Zetta R1 — the engine that does not generate
Zetta R1
R1 makes no meshes. It rebuilds the topology of one you already have, to an exact polygon count you name — which is a different job from generating, and the reason it is a separate engine rather than a setting.
What it does
An exact polygon count
Not low, medium or high — a number. Give it 8,000 and the result is built to 8,000, which is what a polygon budget actually means when someone hands you one.
Quads or triangles
Quads for anything that will be subdivided, sculpted or deformed. Triangles for anything going straight into an engine.
It works on any mesh
A model generated here on any engine, or one you uploaded yourself. R1 does not care where the geometry came from.
How it works
- Pick a finished modelGenerated or uploaded, textured or not.
- Name a polygon count and a typeBoth are asked before the job runs, because a rebuild at the wrong figure is a wasted charge rather than a setting to correct.
- Texture nextA rebuilt mesh carries a fresh layout, so texturing follows retopology rather than preceding it.
What people use it for
- Hitting a polygon budget a client or an engine actually specified
- Getting quad topology onto a mesh that was generated as triangles
- Preparing a generated character for rigging and deformation
- Cleaning up a mesh you brought from somewhere else
What it cannot do
- It does not generate. There is no input that makes R1 produce a mesh from nothing — it needs one to work on
- The quad ceiling is half the triangle one, so a count that is legal as triangles can be refused as quads
- It does not add detail. Rebuilding at a high count gives a dense mesh of the same shape
- It does not preserve UVs — the mesh is new, so the layout is new
