Short answer: in Unity, open Window › Package Manager, click + and Add package from git URL…, paste the plugin's URL and click Add. The 3D Studio window opens on its own — click Sign in with your browser, then Connect Unity on zetta3d.ai. The URL, with a copy button, is on the Unity plugin page.
What you need
- Unity 2022.3 LTS or newer. Unity 6 is recommended.
- Git, installed on your computer. Unity's Package Manager uses it to fetch a package from a Git URL, and cannot without it.
- A Zetta 3D account. Signing up is free.
Unity downloads what the plugin depends on along with it: glTFast to import GLB files, the meshopt decoder for compressed GLBs, and Newtonsoft JSON.
Signing in
Signing in happens in your browser, not in Unity. The Editor receives a session of its own and never sees a password, and that session is kept on your computer rather than in the project — so it never ends up in version control.
Once you are in, every window is under Window › Zetta 3D: 3D Studio, My Generations, Pipelines and Agent. The header of each links to the other three.
Updating, and pinning a version for a team
The URL always installs the latest stable release — it never changes, so there is nothing to look up. Unity keeps the version it installed until you ask for a newer one: add the package again from the same URL, or delete the com.zetta3d.unity entry from Packages/packages-lock.json. The plugin's changelog lists what each version adds.
For a team, add a version tag to the end of the URL, such as #v0.6.0, so everyone installs the same build. To move the team to a newer release, change the tag in Packages/manifest.json.
One file is worth committing: ProjectSettings/Zetta3DSettings.json. It holds the project id the agent's memory is tied to, so with it in version control the whole team shares one project memory.
When it does not work
- "No 'git' executable was found." Git is not installed, or Unity cannot see it. Install Git, then restart Unity and Unity Hub — Unity Hub passes the path along, so restarting only the Editor is not enough.
- A warning that a package is experimental. The meshopt decoder is marked experimental by Unity. It is expected, and safe to keep.
- The 3D Studio window did not open. Open it from Window › Zetta 3D › 3D Studio.
Removing it
Window › Package Manager, select Zetta 3D and click Remove. The models you imported are ordinary assets and stay in your project.
