AI Segmentation
Split a model into separate named pieces — a chair into seat, back and legs. Either cut the mesh you have, or rebuild it as it splits when the source is rough.
What it does
Two ways to split
Segment cuts the model you already have. Smart Segment rebuilds as it divides, which produces cleaner pieces on a rough or incomplete mesh at the cost of no longer being the original geometry.
Parts you can address
Each piece is its own mesh, so it can take its own material, move independently, or be replaced without touching the rest.
Seen before it is saved
Every part loads in the viewer at once, colour-coded, with a panel to show and hide each one.
Download individually or together
One part at a time, or a single file with every piece kept separate under one parent — which imports as one object that is already split.
How it works
- Pick a finished modelGenerated or uploaded — segmentation runs on any mesh in your library.
- Choose Segment or Smart SegmentCut what is there, or rebuild while cutting. The second is the answer when the first produces ragged pieces.
- Inspect the partsEach piece gets a colour and a row. Hide the ones you are not interested in.
- ExportIndividually, or combined into one file with the pieces intact.
What people use it for
- Assigning different materials to different components
- Making a lid, a drawer or a wheel move independently
- Replacing one component of a model without regenerating it
- Breaking a generated asset into a kit of reusable pieces
- Rescuing a rough mesh into usable parts with the rebuilding mode
What it cannot do
- Cuts follow shape, not function. A handle visually continuous with a body stays attached
- Pieces meet exactly where the surface was cut — there is no hidden geometry behind a join, so an opened drawer reveals a hole
- Smart Segment returns new geometry rather than your original mesh, which is the trade it makes for cleaner parts
- Segmented is not the same as modelled in parts. Interiors that were never there are still not there
